J. P. Morgan’s personal librarian, Belle Da Costa 
Greene, was a brilliant art historian who passed as white, and held her position for over 40 years at The Morgan Library. Her legacy will be the focus of a major exhibit at The Morgan in 2024. 

The book tells Greene’s personal story along with a marvelous history of the art world covering the early 20th Century until after WWII. 
She begged Mr. Morgan to buy early Impressionists but his focus steadfastly remained the Classics!
