
The mansions. The clothes. The money. The intrigue. Many Hank members have been requesting a walking tour of the “Gilded Age” and now we have our own private tour with Joyce Gold, a much-recognized expert tour guide and historical raconteur. 


Fifth Avenue still has a concentration of formidable Gilded Age mansions. The industrial age moguls who built these city chateaux were vying to outdo one another & flaunting their wealth & worthiness for all to see. Women of the new-monied class competed for social standing with clothing, parties, and aristocratic connections. 

The current HBO series "The Gilded Age" presents a "new money" family - the Russells. We’ll learn more about who they actually portrayed, as well as other characters in the Series.
 
Other highlights of the tour will be the homes and lives of the Vanderbilts, Astors, and Guggenheims. Stories about “the poor little rich girl,” and the architectural masterpieces by C.P.H. Gilbert, Stanford White, and Richard Morris Hunt.
