Mr. Penzler opened his store on Friday, the 13th, 1979. He is revered the world over as a champion of crime fiction and he also publishes the Bibliomystery series, which features mystery novellas (written by Joyce Carol Oates, Ian Rankin, Lee Childs and others) in which the plot involves a murder related to books or book collecting. 

Mr. Penzler is a unique New Yorker, and has a personal library of over 60,000 books.  (I want to know more about his personal library!)
